Just as stores around the Czech Republic are busy hiring temporary help to deal with the Christmas shopping crush, online shops and delivery companies are interviewing thousands of potential employees in a massive recruitment drive. Idnes.cz reports that Alza.cz has been working since summer to take on hundreds of new people “Preparations for the main season are well underway,” said the company’s spokeswoman Patricie Šedivá. “Recruitement is underway and it’s not just for temporary positions.” Amazon is carrying out a similar process with its vice president Steven Harman saying that the company would hire more than 2,500 people. The courier company PPL offers CZK 140 per hour for those with their own car while racking stackers can make CZK 120 per hour. The Czech postal agency has taken on an extra 2,650 part-timers.
