Retailers hopes to increase sales on EURO 2012 in Poland

4 June 2012

Polish retailers are hoping for a repeat of what happened in Spain in 2004 when that country hosted the European Football Championships. They estimate that the capacity of their stadiums and the number of visitors is similar to the Spanish example. Specifically, they’re estimating they could earn as much as PLN 23bn as a sector during Euro 2012, which is what Spain accomplished eight years ago. Just 40 companies have signed the necessary agreements with UEFA to sell the sanctioned, official merchandise connected with the event to local retailers. Real and Intersport are among the Polish businesses that have been selling EURO 2012 products since last November.
