The Czech e-retailer Rohlik.cz is expanding in a segment that until recently has been dominated by Tesco in the Czech Republic: home deliveries of groceries. Rohlik.cz, owned by the Czech businessman Tomáš Čupr, is now preparing to expand outside Prague to regional cities. The server aktualne.cz reports that Čupr has partnered with investment groups Miton and Enem, who were also involved in the creation of servers Slevomat and DámeJídlo.cz.
Rohlik.cz started its business in Prague and plans to start expansion at the beginning of 2015. Čupr told aktualne.cz that the volume of Czech foodstuff market totals CZK 500bn and that online sales could rise to CZK 50bn. He estimates Tesco’s market share to be in the vicinity of CZK 1.5bn, which he believes leaves substantial room for competition. He believes Rohlik.cz could achieve annual turnover of CZK 10bn in five years. Rohlik.cz delivers foodstuff in 90 minutes and charges CZK 79 for the service.
