Serbian President Vucic promises private sector support package

24 March 2020

President Aleksandar Vucic has insisted that the state will not reduce public sector wages or the minimum wage, which currently stands at just over 30,000 dinars a month. That’s the amount that nearly 350,000 people in the country are paid. Speaking about the private sector, Vucic said that the state is preparing a plan to support companies that are vulnerable to crisis-related disruption. It’s estimated that the package will include up to RSD 4.5bn in state support. The goal, he added, is to prevent GDP figures for the year from declining by more than 2 percent.
