Škoda Auto opened an automatic warehouse for smaller parts at its plant in Kvasiny. The Czech carmaker invested more than €8m in the new warehouse, which Škoda says is one of the biggest logistics projects the brand has undertaken. The company expects the investment will help it save more than €1m annually. The automatic warehouse for smaller parts (AKL) will enhance the efficiency of handling diverse types of material and make the on-site logistics processes even more flexible, the company said in a statement.
“With the new automatic warehouse for small-sized parts opened in Kvasiny, we continue our journey to automating the process of shelving and picking small-size parts at Škoda Auto,” said Michael Oeljeklaus, a board member for production and logistics. “The AKL technology will increase our efficiency and productivity, make our logistics processes more effective, help us reduce material inventories and enhance the ergonomic and occupational-safety parameters of our workplaces.” The Kvasiny plant produces the Škoda Kodiaq and Škoda Superb and will soon be launching production of the new Škoda Karoq.
