Czech carmaker Skoda Auto will resume supplies of vehicles to Ukraine in June and deliver 80 cars which will be assembled at the plant of Skoda’s business partner Eurocar in Ukraine’s Solomonovo, Skoda’s communication head Tomas Kotera announced today.
Skoda suspended supplies to Ukraine over the Russian invasion.
The company will supply semi knocked down (SKD) vehicles by train. It will concern SUVs Kodiaq and Karoq, Kotera said.
Growth in production volume in the Solomonovo plant will depend on the war situation, he said.
Skoda has production plants in Russia. In Ukraine, it has an assembly plant in Solomonovo where Eurocar stopped operations after the invasion started.
Skoda has also suspended all activities in Russia over the war. This concerns production in Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod and also the company’s exports to Russia.
Russia is one of Skoda’s most important global markets. Last year, it ranked second, with Skoda’s sales in the country reaching 90,400 vehicles, which means an impact on the Skoda business can be expected.
Skoda makes its models Octavia, Karoq and Kodiaq in Nizhny Novgorod and Rapid in Kaluga.
Skoda delivered 878,200 vehicles worldwide last year, 12.6 percent fewer. Its unconsolidated net profit rose by 48 percent to CZK 22.41bn, while unconsolidated sales fell by 0.4 percent to CZK 422.6bn.
