SKYCITY Gdynia: Construction to begin this year on landmark 120-metre tower complex

1 August 2024

In a groundbreaking development for northern Poland, SKYCITY Gdynia will soon rise with its unique coastal views, innovative solutions, and a blend of flats, services, and offices. This original mixed-use project by ALLCON is set to commence construction later this year, following an architectural concept selected through an international competition.

“SKYCITY Gdynia is a highly anticipated investment that will transform the city’s western side of the railway tracks. The concept aligns with Gdynia’s modernist character and has the potential to become a landmark. Its proximity to important service, educational, and sports centres, transport hubs, and recreational areas adds to its appeal,” said Bartłomiej Austen, Vice-President of Gdynia.

The project’s scale is impressive. Covering nearly 2 hectares at the intersection of Kielecka Street and Droga Gdyńska Street, it will offer approximately 50,000 sq m of usable space. SKYCITY Gdynia will feature four buildings: three residential towers with 7, 17, and 35 storeys, and one office building. The tallest tower, reaching 120 metres, will be among Poland’s leading high-rise residential buildings. In line with contemporary urban planning trends, ALLCON will follow recommendations for city centre densification.

“For sustainable development and resident convenience, modern cities are densifying within their boundaries. This trend is seen in European capitals and Polish cities like Warsaw, Wrocław, and Gdańsk. Reducing pollution, carbon footprints from traffic jams, and long commutes, along with cutting urban expenditure on new infrastructure, are critical. Urban densification offers benefits for optimal development and social integration for both residents and visitors,” said architect Rafał Zelent of Grupa 5 Architekci studio.

The Tricity-based developer ALLCON’s new investment stands out for its scale, architecture, and prime location.

“SKYCITY Gdynia fits into the popular concept of a 15-minute city, offering even more. Analyzing the location, one can see numerous important places for daily life nearby, making it a 5-minute city,” said Piotr Tarkowski, a board member of ALLCON.

The project will be adjacent to the forests of the Tri-City Landscape Park, with the City Hall, Świętojańska Street, and the newly created Central Park leading to the sea just a 5-minute walk away. The vicinity also includes a shopping centre with a cinema complex, fitness club, food hall, office centres, a municipal sports centre, SKM and PKM stations, bus stops, and various educational establishments.
