Economic sentiment continues to improve, according to the Slovak Statistics Office most recent poll. It found that the three-month average, as measured in June, had risen by 1.7 points to 100.7, which is 10 points higher than it was a year ago. However, it is 3.8 points off the long-term average. “The result was due largely to rising confidence in the services sector,” wrote the statistics office. However, the same poll found that industrial confidence had slipped five points during the month of May to its lowest level since August 2013.
The construction sector fared even worse, falling eight points to -39, 11 points off the long-term average. Consumer confidence was largely unchanged but still 14 points ahead of where it was in June 2013.
