Slovak shopping centers, cinemas and restaurants to open Wednesday

19 May 2020

Slovakia will take its newest step in loosening coronavirus restrictions on May 20 by allowing shopping centers, theaters, cinemas as well as some schools to open for the first time since March. Restaurants will also be allowed to begin serving people inside, but all of these openings will come with strict hygienic procedures that must be followed. Theaters and cinemas can only let in 100 people at a time, while shopping centers will not be allowed to operate their child watching services and must limit the number of customers to one per 15 sqm. Restaurants must maintain two meters between tables and allow just two people to sit together at a time, except in the case of families. The government also announced that it will allow Slovaks and people with Slovak residency to leave the country for work trips of no more than 24 hours to Slovenia, Croatia, Switzerland and Germany. They will not be required to quarantine themselves upon returning or to take a test for COVID-19.
