SPAR has opened its 109th supermarket in Croatia in Knezija, Zagreb following an investment of €8.9m. The 2,000 sqm store offers 69 parking spaces in a garage for customers. More than 60 people are employed at the site. The retailer has applied numerous energy saving techniques to the facility, with heat generated by the refrigerators on site being used to produce half of the energy needed to heat the building. The first SPAR hypermarket opened in Croatia in 2005.
