Statoil opens first convenience store in Riga

19 February 2016

Statoil Fuel & Retail invested more than €100,000 in its first convenience store in Riga. The Norwegian company started operating as a fuel retailer on the Latvian market 20 years ago and is now branching out into a new niche, which Gunta Jekabsone, Statoil Fuel & Retail Latvia executive director, said is “a big step forward.” The company is testing its convenience store concept in the Baltic states first. Similar shops have been opened in Tallinn and Vilnius. Statoil plans to start rebranding its filling stations in Scandinavia, the Baltics, Poland and Russia to Circle K.
