Strong Czech retail revenues in October

5 December 2014

Czech retail revenues increased by 7.5 percent y-o-y in October, and by 1.1 percent compared to September. The automotive sector was the main driver of the growth, writes ČTK. Analysts contacted by the agency believe that the positive trend will continue in the Christmas season. Marika Konečná of KPMG said that while the m-o-m growth was moderate in the Czech Republic, it was stronger than in the rest of the EU28, where it grew by 0.7 percent on average. Pavel Sobíšek, the Chief Economist in the UniCredit Bank said that October was the second strongest month since 2008. He also said that consumers are willing to splash out for electronics and home appliances, but are cutting back on restaurants and petrol.
