The Czech armaments company STV Group is investigating information about the failure of its weapon in the fighting in Ukraine. The Twitter account of Ukraine Weapons Tracker said on Sunday that the LGL-7 grenade launcher had ruptured and wounded two Ukrainian soldiers. The company is also cooperating with the Ukrainian embassy in resolving this event.

The Twitter account added several photos to the information about the failure of the weapon. According to the company, however, it is not clear from them whether the weapon or the charge failed. “Our products are subject to thorough inspection during production. It is a product that we have already delivered to many customers and we have never experienced a similar accident,” the company stated.

STV Group is finding out more details about the event via a twitter account, which published the information, as well as through the Ukrainian embassy. “Eventually, our specialists will be able to determine what actually happened. Based on these findings, appropriate action will be taken. We believe this is an exceptional and unfortunate failure of one piece of product,” the company said. She regrets the events and wished the wounded a speedy recovery. “We believe that despite this unfortunate event, our support will contribute to the victory of the Ukrainian army,” the company added.

STV Group has been sending weapons, ballistic vests and helmets to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian aggression, and has also supplied 50,000 doses of replacement food.

Minister of Defense Jana Černochová (ODS) of the iDNES.cz server confirmed that the grenade launcher was not delivered to Ukraine by the state. “No, it is not from the Ministry of Defense or the Army of the Czech Republic,” she said. Since the beginning of the Russian aggression, the Czech Republic has already supplied military material to Ukraine for more than a billion crowns.
