U.S. fastfood chain Subway plans to expand across the Czech market. Currently operating 14 restaurants through franchise deals in the Czech Republic, the chain’s CEE head Martin Princ told Hospodářské noviny that Subway plans to open a total of 100 outlets in the country. He admitted that the company has focused until now on Poland, where the 100th store is scheduled to open later this year.
Attention will then shift south to the Czech market where Princ says the company’s restaurants enjoyed 11 percent turnover growth over the first two months of 2014 compared to the same period in 2013. Franchise partners must be prepared to invest €120,000 up-front in order to get a new store going.
