Suceava boast highest modern retail space density in Romania

Modern retail stock in Romania reached an average of about 84 sqm per thousand people on average, with te highest density recorded in Suceava, according to a study by real estate consultancy firm DTZ.

Thus, Suceava (736 sqm/ 1,000 inhabitants), Arad (498 sqm) and Constanta (394 sqm) are the cities with the densest retail networks relative to population. Bucharest is ranked eighth with just 307 sqm per 1,000.

The data shows that the density of commercial centers in Suceava is higher than in cities like Prague or Budapest and at a level close to Warsaw, cities which have far greater purchasing power than Bucharest, says Razvan Sin, head of retail department of DTZ.

Counties such as Drobeta Turnu Severin, Braila, Botosani, Tulcea and Giurgiu enjoy just 100 sqm of modern retail space per 1,000 inhabitants. Meanwhile, there are cities where investors have not yet reached. These include Galati, Satu Mare, Targu Jiu, Targoviste, Bistrita, Resita, Slatina, Calarasi, Zalau, Sfantul Gheorghe, Slobozia, Alexandria and Miercurea Ciuc.
