Tchibo to continue Czech expansion more slowly

14 August 2015

Tchibo plans to continue its expansion across the Czech Republic, albeit at a slower pace than before. The director of its Czech branch Richard Hodul told Hospodářské noviny that the company will add four new stores annually at most, focusing on shopping centers inside the cities, since any expansion hits the retailer’s profits. Tchibo operates its branches directly through a an efficient logistic system managed from Germany. The company currently operates 38 shops and 147 stands in the Czech Republic, with the first (and so far only) new store of the year having opened in Kladno. Tchibo continues to expand its range of consumer goods and fashion on offer, including tourist packages. The company’s revenues in the Czech Republic have reached CZK 2.7bn.
