Tenne T platform that will change the electricity market

23 April 2020

Solar panel households and smart electricity meters will soon be able to make extra money by selling excess electricity. Tenne T, an electricity transmission operator based in Netherlands, has developed a platform that will allow consumers to become active in the electricity market. The platform will initially operate in Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. With it, not only can electric car owners can charge their cars batteries when there is excess energy, but they can put energy back into the grid when supply is low. The goal is to create and maintain a stable European electricity grid that doesn’t require coal and gas power plants. The app governing this process can be set by each car owner to determine how much of their battery is to be drained. An accounting of both the incoming and outgoing energy is tabulated using blockchain technology.
