Tesco sells first shopping center in Slovakia

22 January 2016

Tesco, haunted by long-term financial problems in the UK, has put some of its properties across Central Europe on the market. The server idnes.cz writes that the retail chain has launched a tender to sell its largest shopping center in the Czech Republic, OC Letňany in Prague. The transaction is expected to bring in €300m. Tesco is not withdrawing from the markets, as the transactions are sale-and-leaseback deals. In Slovakia, the company already chose a new owner for its shopping center in Žilina and hopes to finalize the sale in a matter of months. The Žilina shopping center is a small project, similar to shopping centers Tesco operates in Nitra, Prešov, Košice and on Kamenné square in Bratislava. Larger centers are located in Bratislava Lamač, Trnava, Dunajská Streda and Nitra.
