Tesco to focus on rebuilding UK market position

In an effort to increase sales after posting a heavy loss in 2013, Tesco will focus on rebuilding its UK market position this year. The retail giant plans to renovate its existing shopping centers around the country and increase its food offerings. Tesco sales dropped by 2.4 percent in the pre-Christmas season.

The company said it is increasing efforts to speed up its recovery plan for the UK network, which includes 900 stores. Currently, only 100 Tesco stores in the UK have been renovated. The company said it will provide more details on its strategy in the near-term.
