Tesco is rumored to be considering selling off its CEE assets, as it focuses on developing its online presence. However, Piotr Grauera, director of KMP in Poland, says this scenario is unlikely, as the company’s CEE network is currently the strongest-performing part of its business. Tesco has been focusing on growing its online presence in Poland and has positioned itself as a top e-retailer in the country. Facing financial struggles and heavy competition on its home market, the UK retailer might consider slowing its e-growth and instead focus on strengthening its position on Poland’s local markets. “It should be noted that e-commerce in Poland is growing slower than expected, which implies that the role of e-commerce in Tesco’s overall operation remain insignificant,” Grauera says.
