There will be no retail park in Žamberk, deputies rejected the zoning plan

23 June 2021

There will be no retail park in the area under the Black Forest in Žamberk in the Orlickoústecko region. Yesterday, with deputies not support the plans for its construction, they also decided on the basis of a petition from people who did not want to shop near the recreational area.

The construction would be made possible by a change in the zoning plan that the city is preparing. Representatives today decided to return the proposal to change the development document to the developer, who will rework it and delete from it the investment plan for the retail park, which the developer planned to build. The mentioned plots should continue to remain a recreational area, said the mayor.

The petition against the retail park was signed by 636 people until last Thursday, and the deputies also took note of it today. A grocery store with an area of 1,450 sqm was to stand in the locality, the entire built-up area was to be 4,760 sqm, including a parking lot for 150 cars.

The co-author of the petition, Lukáš Lyer, said today that the locals like to go for walks in the sports and recreational area, the new store would increase traffic there. It would be close to the recreation area. “The city must first know if it needs any more shops at all. If it finds out that it is, then it can only look for suitable locations for them. And there is definitely no recreation area Pod Černým lesem,” said Lyer.
