The Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile (TPCA) automobile plant in Kolin has again pushed back the date for renewing production. Having announced a delay until May 18th, the company has now said that cars won’t start coming off its lines until May 25th. The plant ended production because of the coronavirus pandemic on March 18. TPCA’s spokesman Tomáš Paroubek said the reason for the extended down time are the Czech Republic’s closed borders and the fact that car dealerships haven’t opened yet. The company’s key markets like Italy and Spain have been hit hard by the virus, making consumers there uncertain about their economic position. Paroubek said that once production begins at the plant, it will be running at 100 percent. The Kolin plant produces the Toyota Aygo, the Peugeot 108 and the Citroen C1.
