Trei opens thirty-second Vendo Park in Poland and debuts in the Podkarpacie region

16 December 2022

Residents of Mielec can already shop at the newly opened Vendo Park developed by international developer Trei Real Estate. The 7,000-square-meter facility is already fully commercialized, and the tenants include 13 brands, including five brand new to the city’s retail map.

The construction of Vendo Park, located on a 4.2-hectare plot at 15 Żeromskiego St. in Mielec, began in April 2022. Previously, the site was home to a Tesco hypermarket, which in 2019 began the process of withdrawing from the Polish market. A retail park in place of a large-format self-service store is a confirmation of changing consumer trends.

“Retail parks are the strongest growing format today. They fit perfectly with customer expectations. The entrance to each of the stores in the park is directly from the parking lot, there are no common areas and users do not have to travel long distances in search of a store of a particular brand or products. This allows them to do quick, convenient shopping close to where they live, which is what consumers expect these days,” says Jacek Wesolowski, Managing Director, Trei Real Estate Poland.

The new built development consists of two buildings – one with multi-brand retail space, the other with a grocery supermarket. The more than 7,000 sqm space includes stores of 13 brands, and among them both those well known to the region’s residents such as KiK, Biedronka, Rossmann, Pepco, Media Expert, Sinsay, Ziko Optyk, Poczta Polska, as well as those making their debut in the city: clothing stores Takko Fashion and kaes., discount stores Dealz and Tedi, and a pet store Kakadu. The retail park’s offer has been selected to provide visitors with comfortable access to a wide base of basic products and to expand local shopping opportunities. Customers of the Mielec facility will be able to use 360 parking spaces. The value of the entire investment is estimated at €11.9 million.

“Vendo Park in Mielec is our debut in the Subcarpathian province. We saw potential in this region and the opportunity to expand the shopping offer available so far. Retail parks are very popular with tenants, as indicated by the full commercialization of Mielec’s Vendo Park even before its opening. Responding to their high demand, we plan to expand the facility in the future. We are also preparing for a similar expansion of retail space in our other developments – in Chorzow, Wladyslawow, Skarżysko-Kamienna. This confirms the attractiveness of this format for tenants and its prospectiveness,” comments Jacek Wesolowski.

Trei is successfully developing its chain of retail parks based on strong brands offering food, drugstore, consumer electronics/appliances, household goods, as well as introducing discount stores, which are increasingly popular among customers. Its portfolio includes a total of 42 Vendo Parks located in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, 32 of which are in Poland. The Mielec facility is the third location opened this year, after Skarżysko-Kamienna and Otwock. Trei is currently developing four more developments: in Krakow, Zambrów, Gorzów Wielkopolski and Łapy, and plans to close next year with eight new retail parks in its portfolio.
