Turkish Simit Sarayi closed all bakeries in Belgrade

Turkish bakery chain Simit Sarayi has closed all facilities in Belgrade after falling into financial difficulties. The company had problems in its business since its establishment, and serious difficulties arise in 2019, with payment of salaries. Simit Sarayi opened in Belgrade three years ago and at the hight of their openings had nine stores in some of the best locations in the capital of Serbia, with a total of 120 employees.

In fifteen years, the company has grown into a bakery giant with 426 stores in 22 countries. In almost all countries where they operated, they were engaged in both sales and production. They opened their first store in 2002 in Istanbul. After three years, they started a production factory. Additional plants were opened in 2010 in Tuzla and Antalya, and at the same time they started operating in the Netherlands.
