Uber Eats will deliver its last meal in the Czech Republic in a month, according to a press release from the company. It appears to be an indirect victim of the coronavirus pandemic, during which online deliveries of all types of goods strengthened some of its competitors to such an extent that it was unable to keep up. Other companies in the same business include Dáme Jídlo, Bolt Food and Wolt. “After years of partnership with local restaurants during which we provided simple and reliable food deliveries, we’ve come to the difficult decision to end the activities of Uber Eats in the Czech Republic on June 3,” wrote the company. Uber Eats is also leaving Romania, Ukraine, Egypt, Honduras, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia with the goal of strengthening its position in other markets where its prospects are stronger.
