Unibail-Rodamco and Socri plan huge mall in Nice

Unibail-Rodamco and Socri, the French private hotels and real estate group, plan to invest €350m to develop a 75,000 sqm mall near Nice on the French Riviera. Scheduled for completion in 2015, the mall is said to be the largest shopping center project in the south of France. Polygone Riviera, designed as an open air shopping center by Unibail Rodamco, will serve a catchment of 1.1m, and is projected to attract 14m visitors annually, 20 percent of which will be business tourists. The project, which focuses on culture and leisure, will offer a 10-screen cinema, a casino and an art gallery. It has been designed by a team of renowned architects led by José Ignacio Galán Martinez of La Maquinista in Barcelona. The project aspires to be BREEAM certified.
