Unibail-Rodamco is planning to expand Aupark, the second oldest shopping center in Bratislava. The project is currently in the planning process. Located along Einsteinova street in the Petržalka district, the shopping center offered 44,000 sqm of retail space when it was completed in 2001. The second phase, built four years later, added an additional 15,000 sqm, making Aupark the second largest shopping mall in Bratislava today. However, the expansion plans for Eurovea (+25,000 sqm of retail space) and Stanice Nivy by HB Reavis, which will add 70,000 sqm of retail space to the main bus station in Bratislava, will knock Aupark down to the fourth position in the city, writes Trend Reality, which may have been the main driver behind Unibail-Rodamco’s decision to expand. JLL Slovakia said that Bratislava, as of last year, has 736 sqm of retail space per 1,000 inhabitants, the highest ratio in the CEE region.
