Veka takeover of Gealan in Romania cleared

16 June 2014

Romania’s anti-monopoly board has authorized a transaction through which the German group VEKA is taking over the company Gealan. The deal between the two companies, both producers of PVC construction materials, was announced in March, though no information on pricing has been released. Andreas Hartleif CEO of Veka said the group will develop two independent brands leaving Gealan in its current form. VEKA started operations in 1969 as a manufacturer of shutters and has its own extrusion facilities in 12 countries, including the United States, Russia, Poland, France and Spain.
