Vietnamese investor eyes RWE IT Slovakia takeover

20 June 2014

FTP Slovakia, a subsidiary of the Vietnamese investor FTP Software, is hoping to take over RWE IT Slovakia in Košice. The move is part of FTP Software’s European expansion plans. Germany’s RWE IT has been active in Košice since 2004. RWE started negotiations with FTP after a number of nuclear power plant closures in Germany forced the group to reduce its IT budget. The company is also considering moving part of its operations from Košice to India.

The founder of FTP, Truong Gia Binh, told sme.sk that the company wants to offer its services not only to RWE, but to other companies active in the energy, telecommunications, transport and automotive sectors. Truong said that FTP’s staff is growing by 30 percent, or 1,500 employees, annually.
