Westinghouse, the US-Japanese consortium vying to expand the Czech nuclear power plant at Temelín, has offered to co-finance the project. The state owned power producer ČEZ cancelled the tender for the construction of two new power blocks at the Temelín nuclear plant in April after the government refused to provide a financial guarantee. The expansion was estimated to cost up to CZK 300bn. Westinghouse is co-financing the construction of power plants in Bulgaria and the UK. The Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade said it welcomed the offer. The question about whether to launch a new tender has not yet been decided.
