Żabka considers taking over part of Jedynka chain

16 April 2014

Żabka Polska, Poland’s biggest convenience store network, is reportedly considering taking over a number of locations in the Jedynka chain, which filed for bankruptcy at the end of March. The chain has 20 stores located in the Podkarpackie region. Skytrac Poland has already acquired seven locations.

“We see great potential in this region,” said Jacek Spychała of Żabka Polska, “but we’re not interested in taking over the bankruptcy mass of the company.”

Żabka was the most active player in the country’s convenience store sector last year, following a number of acquisitions of competing chains, including Agap, Torg, PS Food, Dobry Wybór and Społem Zabrze.
