Rockcastle acquires three more regional Polish shopping centers

17 August 2016

In deals valued at a total of €522m, Rockcastle Global Real Estate has acquired a trio of regional shopping centers in Poland, comprising Bonarka City Center in Kraków, Focus Mall in Zielona Góra and Focus Mall Piotrków Trybunalski.

Two separate preliminary agreements have already been signed with the vendors, according to the Rockcastle’s financial report, involving the acquisition of the 92,425 sqm Bonarka City Centre (for around €361m) from Trios Dutch Holdings and Focus Park Zielona Góra and Focus Mall Piotrków Trybunalski from Aviva Investors for €161m.

The deal marks the latest acquisition for Rockcastle, a South African fund, on the Polish market. Last year, it took over a Silesian retail portfolio that included the Karolinka, Platan, Pogoria and Solaris shopping centers in Poland, for which it recently secured a €163.6m refinancing deal from a consortium made up of ING Bank (Poland), Deutsche Pfandbriefbank and Helaba.
