CPI has begun construction of Nové IGY Centrum in České Budějovice in South Bohemia. The project will require the modernization of the existing IGY Center along with the addition of a new component, IGY2. CEO Zdeněk Havelka led the cornerstone laying ceremony on Wednesday together with the mayor of České Budějovice, Jiří Svoboda, CPI’s construction director Petr Beránek and Metrostav’s Division III director Martin Plch. Havelka said that CPI hopes to be able to open in time for the Christmas shopping season in 2017. The new build portion of the project will require a CZK 420m investment, while the renovation work of the 10-year old portion of the mall will cost CZK 330m. When completed, New IGY Centrum will offer 130 units on 29,000 sqm of retail space and 700 parking spots, a 9-screen multiplex, restaurants, cafés and a foodcourt. Five thousand square meters of new office space will also be built.
