The Varyáda Shopping Centre is changing beyond recognition thanks to extensive modernisation and expansion, which promises to bring visitors not only great shopping but also an unforgettable experience. Construction work is proceeding at a rapid pace, with the centre fully operational. Construction is currently underway on the long-awaited Premiere Cinemas multiplex (i.e. multi-screen cinema) at the front of the centre, which will provide local residents and visitors from across the region with unparalleled cinematic entertainment. Karlovy Vary, a town renowned for its rich festival tradition, will finally join the ranks of other regional towns that already offer modern multiplexes to their residents.
“We will equip our new Karlovy Vary cinema with state-of-the-art projection and sound technology, including laser projectors and Dolby Atmos multi-channel surround sound. We are currently finalising the selection of specific types of equipment and intend to install the most advanced models,” says David Horáček, co-owner of Premiere Cinemas, adding: “We are also thinking about the comfort of our customers. Of course, there are comfortable seats, but also wheelchair access for viewers with limited mobility. The concept of the Karlovy Vary multiplex will also include our proven and popular Premiere VIP, i.e. comfortable, electrically reclining chairs and a VIP lounge with free popcorn and drinks.”
The multiplex will bring a revitalised cultural scene and new opportunities
The new cinema, which is scheduled to open next summer, will offer a total of six screens with a capacity of up to 1,000 seats on a generous 2,500 m² floor space. “In addition to screening current blockbusters, the space can also be used as a conference hall for companies or organisations, which will be a great boon for the city, which until now has lacked suitable and extensive facilities for such occasions. The new premises will provide ideal conditions for conferences and corporate events, which will contribute to the further development of the local economy and support the business environment,” comments Martin Malý, Marketing and Communications Director of EPG Group.
In any case, the multiplex will revitalise the local cultural scene and bring other opportunities, whether it is the use of the space, new jobs or increased footfall to the surrounding shops and services. Overall, it has the potential to positively influence the further development of the town and attract visitors from the wider area. This new cultural and social spot on the Karlovy Vary map will become a place where people can meet and share moments together in front of the silver screen.
The last county without a multiplex will finally get its remedy
The construction of Premiere Cinemas is an important milestone for the entire region, which is the last Czech region to lack its own multiplex. Until now, locals and visitors have had to travel to Plzeň or Prague, tens of kilometres away, for their cinematic experiences. In addition to its long tradition of spa tourism, Karlovy Vary is famous for its International Film Festival.
Possible cooperation between Varyada and its organisers is still to be discussed. However, the new premises of the multiplex could significantly increase the capacity of screening places during the festival, which is increasingly in demand with the growing popularity of the event. This collaboration has the potential to further enrich the cultural scene in the city and raise the prestige of the festival.Full information about the new Varyada, as well as details of the different phases of construction, are available on the website www.nova.varyada.cz. The anticipated completion date for all construction work coincides with the start of the 2025 Christmas season.
