The reconstruction of the Maj department store in Prague will only make it through the permitting phase if it respects the historical features that got it places on the country’s list of historical monuments. That’s the word from the director of Prague’s National Monuments Office Ondřej Šefců. The magazine Euro writes that the NPU is concerned in particular about the building’s façade following the publication of the building with an entirely new, glass façade. The owner of the building, Amadeus Real, has stated that the building has to be reconstructed because of outdated equipment in it, but claims the pictures Šefců referred to are from an outdated reconstruction plan.
