Alza made CZK 240m on its busiest day in 2018

Revenues at the country’s largest online retailer Alza.cz grew 19.3 percent to CZK 25 billion in 2019, making it one of the 10 largest retailers in the country. The company accepted 10.3 million orders during the year in the Czech Republic, including 108,000 orders on Dec. 17, its busiest day of the year, when it made CZK 240 million in sales. The company claims to have had 20,000 people shopping on its site at one point and that it handled up to 380 orders in a minute, with each one taking an average of 150 milliseconds. Alza plans to expand its range of goods in 2018 to include pet care supplies market and to expand into Austria and Germany. The push west follows substantial expansion south, as Alza saw strong growth of its businesses in Slovakia and Hungary in 2018.
