Carrefour modernizes Polish portfolio

25 February 2014

Carrefour plans to modernize a substantial part of its Polish portfolio over the next few years, reports the daily Puls Biznesu, beginning with its Sochaczew shopping center, near Warsaw. Carrefour is in the process of expanding and modernizing the center. The upgrade will provide more than 6,000 sqm of new retail space to the city of Sochaczew. The investor expects to complete the project by the end of the year, with Mirbuded select to oversee construction.

“Our goal is to increase the value of our assets through modernization and re-commercialization,” said Ronan Martin, a vice president at Carrefour responsible for the company’s real estate division. “While we continue remodeling our center, we plan to modernize up to four projects annually.”

The company said once it’s finished modernizing the center in Sochaczew, it will start revitalization work on its centers in Olsztyn and Gdańsk.
