Further mall closings possible

8 August 2012

By the end of 2012, another shopping center could close, warns Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL). The company does not specify any commercial center name. With several malls in the country suffering from low sales, a bankruptcy scenario seems plausible in the current economic crisis, said company representatives.

The most recent closure on the commercial sector was Armonia Arad. The Austrian investment fund Immofinanz announced its intention to transform the shopping center into a logistics park. On the other hand, up to 7 shopping centers could open in Romania this year, with a total area of 130,000 sqm.

The most important opening in the second half of 2012 should be Ploiesti Shopping City.
