Consumer purchasing power on the Latvian retail market increased 6.6 percent in 2015, the biggest increase reported in the Baltic region last year, according to a study conducted by Gfk of European retail markets. The consumer purchasing power in Lithuania grew by 4.9 percent in 2015, while Estonia reported 5.2-percent growth. Thanks to the increasing employment rate, the average purchasing power of a Latvian resident jumped to €6,527 in 2015, according to the study. The EU average grew by 3.7 percent for the year to €15,948 for daily expenses, rent, pension contributions and savings.
