Mayland Real Estates has claimed today it is a step away from securing financing for Serenada, a retail center it’s developing in Kraków. The investor says all the permits for the scheme are in place, but it’s withholding details on its next step. The news comes a few months after Valad and Unibail-Rodamco signed a joint venture agreement for Krokus shopping mall, a nearby project that would compete for tenants. Krokus has reportedly secured Real and OBI as an anchor tenants.
“This region has accumulated the biggest number of the retail and leisure projects, but our strategy for this one remains the same for most of our projects, especially,” says Maciej Kiełbicki, managing director and a board member of Mayland Real Estate. He says the company has doubled the size of its planned food court to 4,000 sqm and will also place a heavy emphasis on the fashion offering. Kiełbicki claims retail saturation in southern Kraków is roughly 15 percent lower than it is in other districts. “At the same time, more than 70 percent of Kraków’s citizens live in this area, which makes it the most sought-after location for retail investments.”
