The grand opening of the Tesco store in the Máj department store on Prague’s Národní třída will take place on Monday 24 June at 9am. The space and the range of products are designed in a unique way that exactly matches the location in the city centre and its visitors. At the same time, the Flip Flops store will be newly opened here.
“The Tesco store on Národní třída is one of our company’s flagship stores and one of the first stores we opened on the Czech market. We are therefore very pleased to have the opportunity to open the store after a complete renovation in a new modern design that we have not used elsewhere. For Tesco, the reopening of a renowned store is a significant step in our planned growth, as well as a commitment to operating as a responsible company and supporting local communities. To mark the opening of the new store, we will be supporting the local Life 90 organisation with a donation of 50,000 crowns. The store will donate its surplus food to the Food Bank for Prague and the Central Bohemia Region,” says Katarína Navrátilová, CEO of Tesco Czech Republic.
The space, design and range of products are designed in a unique way created especially for this store. The company uses more wooden elements than in other stores to create a more pleasant environment. In the bakery and checkout area, a brick facade design is chosen. In several places, distinctive branded frames are placed on the shelves for special display of goods. The range of products will primarily focus on fresh foods such as fruits, vegetables, bakery products, dairy products, plant-based alternatives, as well as a variety of snacks, bargain menus ideal for lunch and snacks, prepared meals, soft and alcoholic beverages, foreign cuisine and premium items. Tesco Mobile virtual operator services will also be available.
To celebrate the store’s grand opening, Tesco will offer loyal Clubcard customers a 20% discount on all products during the first two days (24-25 June). The first customers will receive sparkling wine as a celebration gift.
