Slovak stores to begin reopening on Wednesday

5 May 2020

Businesses will begin to reopen as of tomorrow in Slovakia, as the government is satisfied by the low rate of infection from the coronavirus. This will include outdoor terraces and stores of all sizes, provided they aren’t located in shopping centers, which will remain closed for the time being. Stores will be required to provide hand disinfectants and to allow the density of no more than 25 square meters per customer. Corona cuts will become less frequent now as hairdressers will be allowed to begin serving clients again as will beauty salons and manicure shops. Taxi service will also be renewed, but here also, strict hygienic regulations will apply. Hotels can begin offering rooms again, though each room will have to remain empty for 24 hours after a guest leaves, and the only food that can be provided would be through room service. The next phase of loosening restrictions could take place in two weeks once epidemiologists have a chance to study the impact of the current round of re-openings. While some schools could be allowed to accept children again, it’s still unclear if shopping centers will be allowed to begin trading.
