The Tesco Brno Heršpice store has undergone extensive renovation, which has brought a number of significant improvements for customers and employees. The modernisation has also contributed to a more environmentally friendly operation. The hypermarket, with a sales area of over 5,300 m2, now attracts customers with a wide range of food and non-food goods with an emphasis on seasonal products.

“As part of the store redevelopment, we have optimised the sales area and the presentation of the goods on offer. In the new concept, we have changed the continuity of the sold assortment. For example, we have newly combined the fruit and vegetable department with the bakery. In the department with our clothing brand F&F, we replaced all the equipment, including the fitting booths. This section is particularly popular with our female customers who like to shop here for great fashion pieces at excellent prices. We have also widened the aisles, lowered the height of the racks. The entire store and backstage area now has new energy saving fluorescent lights, which not only improves the lighting but also contributes significantly to the overall energy savings. The store is now more spacious and clearer, so customers can shop faster and more conveniently, which they will undoubtedly appreciate,” explains Patrik Dojčinovič, Tesco’s Chief Operating Officer for the Czech Republic.

The fruit, vegetable and bakery departments have undergone a complete renovation and enlargement, and are now combined into a single unit. The store has its own bakery, where master bakers prepare 45 types of savoury and sweet pastries every day. In addition, they bake a further 68 types of baked goods, and add other products from suppliers. A larger space is now dedicated to displaying a wide range of beers and soft drinks on pallets. A new seasonal zone has been introduced at the entrance to get customers in the mood for the theme, such as Christmas, Easter or now barbecues, while finding products to match.

Customers can also pick up their purchases from Tesco Online at the Brno Heršpice store, including on the day of ordering and until the end of June, free of charge. At the request of customers, the number of self-service checkouts has been increased. A new feature is the introduction of the Scan&Shop service, which allows customers to easily scan and pay for goods directly during the purchase process. At the same time, there have been retained belt checkouts for interested customers. Tesco Mobile virtual operator services are also available.

Changes have also been made to the entire store’s facilities, for example, the day room with kitchenette and staff changing rooms have been completely rebuilt.

Unsold surplus food is donated by the store to local organisations: Christian Congregation Brno, Prague South Moravia and the Food Bank for Brno and the South Moravian Region.
